she, herself and her

As she sat on the bench watching people dance to American Pie, she realised she was doomed forever.
Opened a door to her past. Noone ever loved her. She never knew why she came to this world. born by miracle half a year after the fall of Berlin wall. A doll in her mother's hands. A scapegoat at school. An old soul trapped in a young body. Every time the media reported tragedy, she cried. Girl on a spiral staircase. A desintegrated empire. Memory of a demolished city. She suffered. Been called names. Always out of place. An outsider by definition, never by choice. Loneliness waa her only companion. She was cursed with an almost perfect long-term memory. Remembered each painful word she heard. Tortured by nightmares years after the harm was done. Quiet witness of atrocities. Inborn cowardness prevented her from taking action.
